I created these different elements to do with my theme, using ink, so that i could use them on my book cover.
These are my work in progress shots, as i was going through, making my final piece.
This is my when i was making the front cover, i put the type as the main element in the middle and filled it with colour. Then i added the different ink elements which i created myself and changed the colours of them so they are complimentary to the colour of the title.Once i did that, i put strips in the background of my book cover, and made them a yellow colour. Then i will just use them colours throughout the book cover.
Then i started to add in other elements for the back and the flaps.
Then i created the spine of the book cover, i separated the title of the book, so that each word was separate, so then i could make the spine of the book cover. Also i started to create the back of the book cover. i created a playing card to go on the back, which the blurb will go over.
Now i created the name of the author, using ink and scanned it in, and i also put a barcode and the book publisher logo on the cover.
Now i started to create the flaps, and i put a picture of the author on the flap and some information about him and i put the text into an element for the theme of my book. I also put the blurb on the book cover.
Here i changed the flap and i put the picture of the author on the playing card, so that it links in with the theme and goes well.
I created the other flap, by adding elements of the book onto it and i included reviews on the flap.
Finally i added an endorsement at the top of the back cover, so that it didn't look cramped and also i put in some institutional information on the back.
